Andy opted to go to Monkey Joe’s for his birthday. He brought with him three great friends. They climbed and played and invented intricate games of intrigue before they discovered the “machines that take tokens.” Muhahahaha. Once they saw those machines, the castles of bouncy heaven were lost – they wanted to win Sweet Tarts and Mini Tootsie Rolls. I gave each boy five tokens. They netted something like 8 Sweet Tarts between themselves. I even suggested to them that we could stop at the Dollar Store next to the place we were in and buy a 10# bag of Sweet Tarts and Mini Tootsie Rolls – guess those just don’t taste the same. They all glared at me like I had five heads.
Never mind we had a build-your-own-sundae utopia back at the house. They all chose to stare at the machines for another 30 minutes before we could drag them out. Note to parents of these children – do NOT send them to Vegas. It will be bad.
We did make it back to the house and all was right with the universe. They made sundaes and spent the next two hours running that sugar out of their systems.
And, so, I finished up my last 9 yr-old birthday party. Wah! I consoled myself by watching bad late late night tv and eating a lot of chocolate. Mike was thinking, but was smart enough to keep his mouth shut, this morning that maybe I need to find some new coping strategies. I dunno, chocolate has gotten me this far, I can’t just abandon it now.
