One wall to go . . .

We had some grout issues last night – namely Mike did not bring his glasses (his story)to the store when he went to get my new grout or he refused to put them on (my theory) to match up the tag from the bag of grout I had been using.  Whatever.  I spent last night scraping grout specks from the previously grouted walls.  It has to be done, I had just had my hopes up for finishing the grout. :::sigh::: Yes, I did wear my pearls and high heels.

Today, we fixed the grout situation (thank you Lowe’s for letting us return the opened bag of grout).  I grouted.  Mike got stuff ready for a neighborhood picnic. The man knows food – he grilled corn, burgers, buns and added a pasta salad (mushrooms, pepperoni, provolone and more) and topped it all off with sugar cookies for everyone.  Despite the fall-out we’ve been getting from tropical storm “what’s-his-face,” it ended up being a lovely and delicious escape from the bathroom work. There is much to be said for a well-made hamburger.

It was damp, but not rainy.  The kids and the grown-ups (but not me because I am a spaz) played volleyball.  It was nice to have Ian and Tim there. They evened out the volley ball teams (at least until Tim left for his date).  I missed Dan.  All-in-all, though, it was a really nice evening.

And now I am home, still grouting (though the end is near) and popping online to let the grout set before I scrape and brush and start all over again.  The grout will be done before I sleep tonight.  Then there will be touch-up grouting and scraping to clean everything up before I seal it.  And then . . .  IT’s Mike’s game again – new shower head, new faucets and some glass doors.  Rehang the cabinets, get some hooks for the towels.  But, my end of the work is nearly done.

After about 3:00 am this morning, you can reach me on the couch, while I lounge and eat bon-bons for about a week.

  1. Ha. I didn't have MY glasses on when I first sat down, thus reading your title as 'One More Wail'… which strikes me as apt.

  2. LOL Ami – One More Wail is about right. 😉

Deana – yes, same adhesive as I did in the kitchen. The tile pieces are so small- 1″ on average – and the grout is so thick that I'm comfortable with that one. The grout I'm using is actually kind of lovely – it's easy to get that toothpaste texture when you mix it and it does not dry out super quick like some do. I used charcoal gray for the bathroom.|1&pl=1&currentURL=%2Fpl_Grout_4294858194_4294937087_%3FNs%3Dp_product_qty_sales_dollar|1&facetInfo=
