It’s November 5 – Guy Fawkes Day. I’m not certain if you are supposed to wish someone a happy day or not. But, it is what it is. We’ve spent time on this day during several cycles of history and Andy will probably have one more. It’s daring, scary stuff. I put this on our chalkboard for this morning to remind the older kids that the white face they see is NOT about anarchy or the goofy stuff you see in demonstrations today. There’s more to it.
I think I have an idea for my novel. I’m days and days behind on this Nano challenge, but I did get 4500 words written this evening. I’m behind every year, so I’m not too worried. Not sure about the plot yet, but I am not going to let that be a deterrent! It’s about writing the novel, not a good one, just getting it done in a month. I’ve done it before, I can do it again. To what end? That I cannot tell you. For me? It’s a challenging exercise that happens to be fun as well.
Mike, on the other hand has a plan. We’ve talked forever about adding a path from the sidewalk to the front door. Mike started on it this weekend and it’s awesome! He actually finished the path this afternoon, but I did not get pictures – I will.
Next up? The magical pit of dirt where we’ve been parking the “last car home” of late. (Have I mentioned that Tim’s car finally and truly died last week? I think Tim is kind of happy to be free of the money pit that car was. Me? I am woebegone. I am back to sharing my car with two young men, both going to school full time and both working nearly full time hours. So, basically, I’m back to no car. WAH!) But, in the meantime, I’m trying to enjoy our new path and soon-to-be pretty dirt pit. What else is there to do, right?
